Gone are the days of monotonous sales pitch

It’s called “the art of selling” for a reason: hardly everyone can do it, it takes a lot of practice, and there’s only one simple formula for getting it right and closing a sale.

However, you can take the first step by writing a compelling sales script for your pitch. A pitch is a short speech that you give to persuade your customer to buy your product by communicating its worth and benefits of it.

We’re not talking about giving the impression that you’re a snake oil salesman. We’re simply discussing how you present your product to your customer (metaphorically speaking) and persuade them to purchase it.

Defining the Sales Pitch

The problem, as of the last decade, is that no one wants to listen to your long, monotonous sales speech, especially if you’re ranting on about your product. No one, unless you’re conversing with someone who is too polite to display disinterest.

Your sales pitch should be brief, easy to understand, and effectively express the benefits of your product so that you can ignite your prospect’s attention and keep them talking to you.

What Does a Good Sales Pitch Sound Like?

It’s simple to offer you a list of dos and don’ts (which we’ll get to shortly), but first, let’s help you visualize how the ideal sales pitch should go.

For a pitch, a good sales script is:

  • Short and Precise
  • Targeted to the Person You’re Speaking With
  • Simple and Straightforward
  • Conversational
  • Enthusiastic

Crafting a Successful Sales Script

If you don’t prepare enough and instead improvise on the spot, you’ll end up adding a lot of unnecessary details and words, which can muddle the message.

So, here’s how you can get started on your sales pitch.

How to Write a Deal-Closing Sales Script and Pitch

1- You should be aware of who you’re pitching to

In any industry, knowing your consumer is critical to success. You must know your consumer from the inside out, including what his or her company demands are, what prevents them from accomplishing their objectives, and what drives their decisions.

2- Make a list of the important details

Put your thinking cap on and take a seat with a pen and paper. You should begin by determining the details you do want to include in your pitch. This will be more difficult than you anticipate since you must limit yourself to only what is necessary.

3- Begin by initiating a conversation

Have you ever had a chat with yourself? It’s a good idea to get your first one now; believe it or not, this is a useful sales approach. Take your notes and make a story out of them — you can even write it down.

4- It’s all about Practise, Practise & Practise

Begin with pitching to yourself while standing in front of a mirror. Once you’ve nailed the sales script and are feeling confident, get together with your coworkers and, if necessary, friends or family to rehearse the script you wrote earlier.

5-Adapt and fine-tune

Put your sales speech to the test by meeting with a potential customer. Once you know what you want to say, you’ll be more concerned with how the customer is perceiving your pitch, how he or she is reacting, and whether you need to change anything. You can then change tack on the fly.
